Buying a Peugeot is always a good idea.

Disclaimer: I own 3 Peugeots. Aged between 15 and 27 years old, so none as classic as the ones above.

I found a couple of 505's in really good shape for $2000 and ~$2900, they had automatic transmissions, but at that price I may be a future 505 owner.

I never had the pleasure of driving a 505, but from all I’ve gathered they’re great cars. From experience I know that they’re a bit rust prone (as are all cars developed in the 1970s), but other than that they’re cockroaches really. The ones in Europe have all been exported to Africa to serve an nth life as a taxi.

Too bad about that rust potential though, the 505 was both the last RWD Peugeot and the last rust prone Peugeot. My ‘88 205 GTI is close to rust free and both my ‘97 306 convertible and ‘00 406 coupe are utterly rust free, despite my country’s habit of salting the roads during winter.
